WNBA star Caitlin Clark is celebrating a major slam dunk in boyfriend Connor McCaffery’s career.
The Indiana Fever guard congratulated Connor on his new role as Assistant Coach for the Butler University basketball team in a Sept. 16 Instagram Story post, writing alongside a social media announcement, “Yayy!! So happy for you.”
Connor, 26, previously played guard for the Iowa Hawkeyes at the University of Iowa for six seasons, finishing with the second-best assist-to-turnover ratio in NCAA history. He then served as the Basketball Development Coordinator for the Indiana Pacers during the 2023-2024 season.
"Following a high-level playing career, Connor has had the opportunity to both contribute and learn alongside one of the best staffs in the NBA," Butler head coach Thad Matta said in a statement. "Those experiences will be very valuable to our staff. He obviously comes from a basketball family that I know very well and I'm excited for the impact he is going to have on our program both quickly and in the long run."
Connor and Caitlin made their relationship public in August 2023, when she posted photos of the two cozied up on a boat with the caption, “Best end to summer.”
In January, Connor paid tribute to his girlfriend in a sweet post marking her 22nd birthday. “With all that you’ve already accomplished, there is so much more in store for you and your special self,” he wrote on social media. “I admire you in every way and I love you.”
Caitlin returned the favor for Connor’s birthday in July. As she wrote on Instagram at the time, “Celebrating you is easy.”
“Thankful to have someone as selfless and as loving as you in my life,” she continued before teasing, “May this be the year you finally find a way to outshoot me.”
